Barbara Weston Izatt, 89, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2007 in Logan, Utah, a week prior to her 90th birthday. She was born September 7, 1917 in Laketown, Utah to Benjamin Weston and Lauretta Pearl Earley Weston. Barbara was the fifth child of twelve and is predeceased by her infant daughter, Barbara Ann, her husband, Edwin Stafford Izatt, her parents, four brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her five children, Mary Evelyn (Todd) Kimball, Edwin (Kathi) Izatt, Dorothy (Lee) Gillenwater, George (Gay) Izatt and Joseph Izatt. She has 16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, with another due within days. She also has two great-great-grandchildren, one brother, Simeon Weston, and three sisters, Betty Lou Pugmire, Hazel Richardson, and LaRue Calder.

During her youth in Laketown and Randolph, she cooked for the cowboys on her father's ranch. Later, she moved to Salt Lake City and worked as a telephone operator for the phone company, at a three-story restaurant(prior to elevators) and as a foreman at Remington Arms during World War II. When she moved to Logan, she worked for Peterson Equipment as a bookkeeper. She met a dashing former Navy man, Edwin Stratford Izatt. On a trip with family friends, the couple made a spur of the moment decision and married on November 29, 1946 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

They lived in Logan where their first two children were born, then moved to Fish Haven, Idaho, where they purchased what became Izatt's Service and a 45-year business enterprise. After Ed's death in 1981, Barbara continued as the sole proprietor with assistance periodically from her children. The store was sold in 1991 and she moved back to Logan.

She lived during the last six years at Williamsburg where she made many new friends and acquaintances, enjoying their association and many jaunts or chats together. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of the Williamsburg Retirement Center for their friendship and caring.

Barbara was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in various callings. She was a talented soprano, performing with various women's choirs during her lifetime. Her crocheting and embroidery creations are cherished by family and friends. One of her lifetime passions was attending and watching basketball, particularly when her sons were involved. Her enthusiasm continued with the Utah Jazz.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 5 at the St. Charles Ward, St. Charles, Idaho. Friends may call 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the St. Charles Ward. Internment will be in the Fish Haven Cemetery, Fish Haven, Idaho.
