Biography:

February 25, 2010 was "Graduation Day" for Viola Gertrude Flory, of Stella, Missouri, when she passed from this life into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 12:18 p.m. at the Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri at the age of 90 years, 8 months and 27 days.

Viola began her earthly journey on Wednesday, May 28, 1919 in Brillian, North Dakota born to the late Henry George and Gertrude Belle (Light) Thompson.

On June 26, 1940 in Kalispell, Montana she was united in marriage to Airld "Gus" Flory and they have shared the last 69 years, 7 months and 30 glorious, loving days together.

In October of 1954 she and Gus moved their family from Ridgefield, Washington to McDonald County, Missouri.

Besides being a devoted homemaker, she also worked at Bentonville Garment Manufacturing for several years.

She has been a faithful member of the Anderson Full Gospel Church for over 55 years. Viola Served the Lord all of her life as a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Joseph Banchi; a great granddaughter, Alexandria Flory; and three siblings, Lloyd and Carl Thompson and Naomi Benningfield.

Viola is survived by her husband, Airld "Gus" Flory of the home; two daughters, Verna Manar and husband, Jimmy, of Neosho, Missouri and Ila Wise and husband, Herb, of Bella Vista, Arkansas; three sons, Ronald Flory of Riverton, Wyoming, Leland Flory of Anderson, Missouri and Carter Flory and wife, Mary, of Stella, Missouri; seventeen grandchildren, Eddie Whittington, Viola Krumanaker, Regina Yarbrough, Kevin Whittington, Angela Motta, Carla Jackson, Ronald Flory, Jr., Judith Lanningham, Kim Banchi, Nancy Emmi, Brian Flory, Kristie Putnam, Lee Flory, Jr., David Flory, Tony Flory, Sharlene Phillips and Linda Hendrick; forty great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Dr. C.C. Thompson and wife, Violet, of Pineville, Missouri; a sister, Evelyn Simonsen of Battleground, Washington; a sister in-law, Ileta Thompson-Kinslow of Goodman, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Flory are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at the Full Gospel Church in Anderson, Missouri with Pastors Cecil Hall and Dr. C.C. Thompson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Lanagan Cemetery in Lanagan, Missouri.

Those grandsons honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Eddie Whittington, Kevin Whittington, Lee Flory, Jr., Brian Flory, Ronald Flory, Jr. and Tony Flory. Great Grandsons, Christopher Jackson, Dustin Flory, Colby Flory, Steven Putnam and Chancellor Banchi will be serving as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes.
