Mrs. Mae Huntsman, long time resident of Lovelady, age 91, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at her residence in Lovelady. Her last days were very peaceful in the knowledge that she would soon be with her Lord and Savior. Mae was a devoted Christian and took great comfort from her faith during hard times and through her final hours.

She will be remembered by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Weymon and Nina Caldwell of Pearson Chapel along with their five children, Eleceia Cupps of Houston, Kathy Gossett of Orange, Buddy & Phyllis Caldwell of Spring, Tammy Conwell of Austonio, Perry Caldwell and Suzanne & her children Kayla, Danielle, Brandon of Pearson Chapel. Also her great grandchildren. Dianne Gallagher and husband Corban of Houston, Eli and Christian Admire of Pearson Chapel, Stevie and William Caldwell of Spring, Jesse Wayne Burton of Kansas, Bud & Kyle Veroni of The Woodlands, Faith, Mitchel & Michael Conwell of Austonio, a great great grandson, Ethan Burton of Kansas plus brothers and sisters, friends and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by parents, Lawrence and Maggie Alfred, one brother and three sisters.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lovelady since 1963 and served as church clerk for 23 years. She joined the Eastern Star Weldon Chapter No. 969 in 1950, and became a charter member. She served as Past Matron two terms and treasured her time with this great organization. Mae was a strong abiding Christian and her life embodied Christ's teachings of charity and selflessness. Her kindness and generosity showed in everything she did, in her earlier days she would cook meals and drive around the community and deliver food to the elderly, shut-ins and the sick so they wouldn't go hungry. Even after she turned 90 years old she was still making quilts for the residents in the Houston County nursing home for Bingo prizes, just another testament to her faith and dedication to the ministry to help those in need. She didn't require lots of money, a fancy house, the nicest clothes or new cars. If the people she cared about surrounded her, she felt rich and blessed.

Mae would want to thank those who remained faithfully by her side and regularly attended to her needs in her last days as her condition deteriorated when she required round the clock care. Weymon & Nina Caldwell, grandchildren & family members… they all know who they are, put in long hours at her bedside to keep her comfortable as possible. She would also want to thank the kind neighbors who checked in on her and did what they could to help and the community for their concern. Also many thanks go to Pastor Mitchell Kleckley and the members of Lovelady First Baptist church for their care and concern and all they've done for her. Plus the wonderful people of hospice for their tender care and guidance for the family.

The world became a brighter place May 1, 1922 when Mae Alfred arrived. Though that light has burned out in this world, it will live on in the hearts she's touched and loved these 91 years. Mae leaves cherished memories to all that loved her. Hers was a life well lived. Mae is joining in heaven her loving husband of 54 years before he departed this earth, Hollis Huntsman. Also her parents Maggie and Lawrence Alfred, one brother and six sisters and many friends will be there to welcome her home.
