Nellie was the daughter of Lawrence Lovelady Alfred & Maggie Phillips and the sister of May Alfred, Mary Alfred, Helen Alfred, Ruby Alfred, Mamie Alfred, Joyce Leverne Alfred, Jesse Lawrence Alfred, Bert Melvin Alfred, Betty Jean Alfred, Shirley Ann Alfred and Bonnie Sue Alfred. She married Albert Strength on May 23, 1951 and they had five children: Albert Clark Strength, Jr., Ruby Diane Strength, Charles Dale Strength, Lisa Jean Strength and William Lawrence Strength.
