Mrs. Shirley Alfred Anslem, age 64 of Grapeland, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2007 in the Palestine Regional Hospital. Mrs. Anslem was born June 1, 1943 in Crockett and had lived in Houston County all of her lifetime. Mrs. Anslem was a homemaker and a member of the Georgia Camp Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter Cheryl Johnson and husband Jimmy, of Grapeland; son Roy Anslem and wife Pebbles, of Grapeland; grandchildren Emily Johnson, of Grapeland, Raven Anslem, of Crockett, Roy Joseph Anslem, Jr., of Grapeland; sisters Mae Huntsman, Joyce Turner and husband Cubby, all of Lovelady, Betty Rowland, of Buffalo, Bonnie Duval, of Grapeland; brother Jesse Alfred and wife Jonell, of Grapeland; sister-in-law Patsy Wade and husband Ben, of Ala.; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by her husband Herman Anslem; parents Lawrence and Maggie (Phillips) Alfred; sisters Mamie Salmon, Ruby Lane, Mary Oliver, Nellie Myers and Helen Alldredge; brother Bert Alfred; mother-in-law Inez Anslem Majors; father–in-law Harvey Majors; and brother-in-law Mervin Anslem.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Shirley Alfred Anslem were held Saturday, November 10, at 2:00 p. m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ottis Byers officiating. Interment followed in the Creek Cemetery.
