She was born on July 8, 1923, in Luray and was a daughter of George Grigsby and Sally Edna Higgs Stroupe.
Her companion of 35 years, Louis Shirley 'Pup' Brubaker, died on July 29, 2005.
She is survived by a brother, Charles N. Stroupe of Luray and three sisters, Christine S. Shenk and Gladys Marie Good, both of Luray and Betty Lee Dovel of Stanley. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Louise Virginia Hilliard, Elsie Elaine Rickard and June Estelle Wilson; and two brothers, Siford Eugene and Tommy Wayne Stroupe.
