Betty Lee Dovel, 82, of 778 Aylor Grubbs Ave., Stanley, died on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

She was born on Dec. 20, 1929 in Stanley and was a daughter of the late George Grigsby Stroupe and Sally Edna Higgs Stroupe

On Aug, 9, 1950, she married Roy Elmo Dovel, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by a daughter, Pamela D. Goff and husband Larry Goff of Faber; a brother, Charles N, Stroup of Luray and two grandchildren., Tanner Goff and Laura Goff, both of Faber. She was preceded in death by six sisters, Anna Christine Shenk, Gladys Marie Good, Frances Maxine Stroupe, Louise Virginia Hilliard, Elsie Elaine Rickard and June Estelle Wilson; and two brothers, Siford Eugene Stroupe and Tommy Wayne Stroupe.

A graveside service will be conduced at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15 at the Leaksville Cemetery in Luray by Rev. Charles R. Turner.
