He was born on June 21, 1924, in Luray and was a son of the late Jesse W. and Mary Rebecca Gander Brubaker.
Mr. Brubaker was a veteran of World War II. He served in the Coast Guard from 1941-1946 and was a seaman with the Merchant Marines for 30 years.
Survivors include his companion, Frances Maxine Stroupe of Luray; a brother, Eugene P. Brubaker of Luray; and a sister, Elizabeth B. Gooch of Richmond.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Rufus M., George V., Willis G., Elmo V. and Oscar W. Brubaker; and two sisters, Alice L. Brubaker and Ressie L. Kauffman.
Graveside service was conducted on Monday, Aug. 1, at the Leaksville Cemetery in Luray by Dr. Eddie Walker.
