Funeral services for Mrs. Bertie Mae Freeze, 62, of Jean, mother of Mrs. Odum Van Zandt of Olney, were conducted from the Olney Church of Christ. Born near Mertens, in Hill county, Mrs. Freeze moved to Young County in 1914. She had made her home in Los Angeles, California in 1948 but returned in May 1950 to live with her children.

Survivors: her husband, O.A. Freeze; five daughters - Mrs. Odum Van Vandt, Mrs. George Leggett, Mrs. Merle Gardner, Mr. Faye Lewis, Mrs. Helen Wright; five sons - Elton Freeze, Earl Freeze, Henry Freeze, Welton Freeze, Joe Bill Freeze; one sister; nine brothers, 16 grandchildren.
