Mrs. Reberdia E. (Cool) Benjamin, 85, of P.O. Box 160, Mont Alto, PA, died at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, April 20, 2006 in the emergency room of the Waynesboro Hospital. She was in failing health for the past three years and critically ill for the past two months.

Born July 15, 1920 in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Emma Jane (Peters) Cool. She was a life long resident of the Waynesboro area.

Mrs. Benjamin graduated from Waynesboro High School with the class of 1938.

She and her late husband, Mr. William "Bill" Benjamin, Jr., were married on December 24, 1941 in Hagerstown, MD. She lived at 332 Fairview Avenue, Waynesboro, which was her home place most of her life. Following the death of her husband, she moved with her daughter and son-in-law, Barry and Barbara Shank.

Mrs. Benjamin was employed by Merle Barnhart Machine Shop at Coldsprings Park as a machine operator, then was a cook at the Big Dipper of Rouzerville, PA and then was a short order cook at the Parlor House of Waynesboro.

She was a protestant by faith and a member of the national AARP.

Her hobbies included woodworking, working with HO trains, reading and as a young person, skating, including skating on teams.

She is survived by two daughters, Barbara A. Shank, and Donna K. Speer both of Waynesboro, one son, Jeffrey W. Benjamin, Waynesboro, nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, one sister, Ann Ferguson, Waynesboro, one brother, O. Ray Cool, Waynesboro and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy L. Benjamin who died in 1959, two sisters, Viola Creager and Jane L. Sheffler Ingram, five brothers, Chester Cool, Harper Cool, George Cool, Charles Cool and Mark Cool.

Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, April 24, 2006 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad Street, Waynesboro with her son-in-law officiating, Mr. Barry T. Shank.

Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
