Mrs. Donna Kay (Benjamin) Speer, 73, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2023 in her home.
Born July 9, 1949 in Waynesboro, PA., she was the daughter of the late Reberdia (Cool) Benjamin. She was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area attending Waynesboro area schools.
Mrs. Speer was employed by the Waynesboro Hospital as a dietary aide for 36 years. She retired in 2014.
She was a member of Mont Alto Bible Baptist Church.
Mrs. Speer enjoyed camping at Cowan's Gap, attending craft shows with her daughter, time at the beach, spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and watching Westerns on T.V. She especially liked watching John Wayne.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Mr. Gary Lee Speer, who she married September 24, 1977; two daughters: Sheila S. DeWitt and her husband, T.R. of Waynesboro, Carrie L. McCrosson and her significant other, Don Metts of Beaumont, TX; twin sons: Christopher L. Speer and Clinton J. Speer, both of Waynesboro; five grandchildren: Jared Wilson, Emily Kieffer and her husband, Garrett, Layla Speer, Toby Speer and Isaac Speer; one brother, Jeffrey Benjamin, Waynesboro; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Benjamin and Barbara Shank.
Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 18, 2023 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad Street, Waynesboro with her brother-in-law, Mr. Barry Shank officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M., Tuesday in the funeral home.
