Lloyd G. Brassington, age 83, died on Tuesday, Oct 16, 2001, at his home. He was born Jan. 24, 1918, in Middleton, WI the son of William and Athol Brassington. On Oct 20, 1945, Lloyd was united in marriage to Elaine Haugland. She preceeded him in death after 51 years of marriage on November 8, 1996. He was a veteran of World War II in the Pacific Theater, serving with the Army Air Corps. He worked for Oscar Mayer as a brick layer for 29 years until his retirement in 1978. Lloyd was very much a handyman and enjoyed fixing things. He also enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. Lloyd also loved baking, especially making pies and cakes. Lloyd is survived by his three children: Keith Brassington, Bruce (Cheryl) Brassington and Jill (special friend Steve Clarke) Brassington, all of Madison; a granddaughter, Jessica (Travis) LaSchum of Madison; two sisters, Avis (Richard) Frank of White Pigeon, MI and Eileen Turk of New Port Richey, FL; two brothers, Bud (Arlene) Brassington of Montello and Lynn (Dorothy) Brassington of Middleton; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceeded in death by his parents, his wife Elaine; two sisters, Arlowene (Arnold) Selje and Gladys Smith and three brothers, Bill, Jr, Merele and Francis (Velma) Brassington. Funeral services will be held at Ryan Funeral Home, 2418 N Sherman Ave on Friday, Oct 19, 2001 at 11am with Pastor Mary Pharmer officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery.
