OBITUARY

Mrs. Maria Ortlepp

Maria Ortlepp, age 82, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Schnuell, in the town of Charlestown, last Sunday, April 7th, cause of death being attributed to old age.

Deceased was born in Mecklenburg, Germany, August 15, 1846, emigrated to this country with her mother and brothers in 1867 and settled in the town Meeme, Manitowoc County. In 1868 she was united in marriage to Gotthilf Ortlepp and settled on a farm in the town of Rantoul where they resided for 48 years. She was a true helpmate and hard worker and during those years helped her husband convert a piece of wilderness into a fertile farm. Her husband preceded her in death in 1917. She was the mother of 13 children, ten of whom are still living, four sons, John of Rantoul, Herman and Richard of Potter and Max living on the homestead; six daughters, Mrs. Emil Koch of Potter, Mrs. Edw. Hass of New Holstein, Mrs. Wm. Schnuell of Charlestown, Mrs. Chas. Ott of School Hill, Mrs. Julius Krueger of Kiel, and Mrs. Albert Hinz of Plymouth. She is survived by 17 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday at 1:00 pm from the farm home in town of Rantoul, followed by services at the Trinity Lutheran church. Interment being made in the church cemetery. The six son-in-laws acted as pallbearers.
