Bert Plaggemeyer Services Are Conducted Friday
Last rites for Bert Plaggemeyer, pioneer Sweet Grass county rancher, were held at the Congregational church Friday afternoon, with Rev. J. F. Howlett of Columbus officiating. Lowry's was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Plaggemeyer died Wednesday of last week following a long illness.
Music was by Rev. and Mrs. Howlettm, accompanied by Mrs. Harry Wordal. Pallbearers were Gerritt Scholten, Anton Solberg, Severin Nelson, Ole Langhus, Q. Huyser, and Ronald McDonnell. Interment was in Mountain View.
Mr. Plaggemery was born in Garthuesen, Netherlands, on September 16, 1865. He came to the United States at the age of 16 and lived for several years in Grand Rapids, Mich., later moving to Emmons county, North Dakota, where he was married in 1888 to Winnie Sikema.
They came to Big Timber in 1896 and settled on a ranch 11 miles northwest of Big Timber where he was residing at the time of his death.
Besides his widow, Mr. Plaggemyer is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Rena McComb, Mrs. Etta Johnson, and Ellen and Clara Plaggemeyer, all of Big Timber, and Mrs. Edith Evenson of Great Falls; four sons, Fred, John, Abe, and Harry Plaggemeyer, all of Big Timber, 19 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; also a sister, Mrs. Anna Holtrop of Grand Rapids, Mich. Three sons preceded him in death.
