Ed Johnson, 78, Searsboro, died Nov. 9th at a Grinnell hospital. Interment was in West Liberty Cemetery near Searsboro.

The son of George and Emma Watson Johnson, he was born on a farm northeast of Searsboro on Aug. 30th, 1883. He attended the local rural schools and worked on the farm.

On Dec. 14th, 1913, he was united in marriage with Iowa Broyles. They had resided at the family homestead since that time. To this union were born four children; Kenneth, who was killed while serving in the armed forces; Donald of Searsboro; Marvin of Kansas City, Kan.; and Paula Steen of Searsboro.

Mr. Johnson was a faithful attendant of the Friends church and helped with many community projects.

He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth, and two sisters and one brother.

Survivors include his wife; three children; eight grandchildren; five brothers, Charles, Fred, Albert, Harry, and George; and three sisters, Alpha Fleener, Nettie De Hoedt, and Edna Gable.
