Emma Ann Watson, second daughter of Jesse and Jane Watson was born in Sugar Creek Township on April 2, 1862, where she grew to womanhood, spending her entire life on the same farm.
On June 23, 1881, she was united in marriage to George M. Johnson. To this union was born 12 children: Charles W., Edgar P., Myrtle, Alpha, Fred M., Albert L., Harry L., Nettie, Edna, George Junior, and two having preceded her in infancy.
She has been in poor health for the past two years but death of apoplexy claimed her November 8, 1926 at the age of 64 years, 7 months, and 6 days. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, 10 children, 16 grandchildren, and her only sister, Mrs. James Waters of Grinnell, and a host of relatives and friends.
