Bio by B. Bradford - granddaughter.
Pearl Lee Hensley Bradford was the only child of Howell Hensley and Margaret "Maggie" Ibbie Foster of Spivey, Unicoi Co., TN. Her parents' marriage was short lived when Maggie died of peritonitis from a ruptured appendix. Howell never remarried and devoted his life to Pearl teaching her the values of family, education and God. She was raised in her grandparents', Silas and Sarah's, home which Howell resumed ownership after their deaths. Pearl was afforded the rare opportunity to attend the Teacher's college at ETSU in Johnson City. She married later in life to Andy Rosco Bradford (s/o Samuel L. Bradford and Ruhama Hensley) of Little Creek, Yancey Co., NC and together they lived on her father's farm on Spivey and started a family. In addition to being an educator and loving mother, she was a lifetime member of the Mountain Dale Freewill Baptist Church situated at the foot of her former farm and was well respected by the community. She indeed was "the Pearl of Spivey" and sorely missed.Daughter of Howell & Maggie Hensley. Wife of Andy Bradford.
