Oshkosh Daily Northwestern October 14, 1909: "DEATH OF MRS. H. WENDLAND.
"Mrs. Caroline Wendland, wife of Helmuth Wendland of the town of Winchester, died at St. Mary's hospital at 8:45 o'clock Wednesday evening from the shock which followed an operation for appendicitis. She was twenty-nine years of age and was a mothrer of two sons one nine years and the other five years of age.
"The remains were taken to Fremont this afternoon on the steamer Paul L. Funeral services will be held Sunday at one o'clock at the residence in the town of Winchester, and at two o'clock in the Winchester church, Rev. John Dowidat officiating. Interment will be at the Winchester cemetery."
