Frieda Augusta Beyer the daughter of Herman Edward Beyer and Martha Rosa (Reinholt) Beyer was born August 22, 1898 in Staunton, Macoupin County, Illinois.

On April 23, 1917 Frieda Beyer married Roy Vernal France, son of Joseph Absalom France and Amanda Gersilia (Woodward) France, in Gillespie, Macoupin County, Illinois. Two sons were born to this union:

Lynwood Harold France
and Raymond Roy France

Frieda was a member of the Staunton Senior Citizens Club and the Pocahontas Shining Star Council No. 148 and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Concordia Singing Society. She was also a past president of the Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Family members say that Frieda did not believe in nicknames. She would call you by your birth name. She was also a very crafty women and made quilts for many babies that were born in the family.

Frieda's husband Roy France was elected Mayor of Staunton three times, not consecutively, and was a former president of the Staunton School District Board of Education.

Frieda passed away on April 17, 1975 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Staunton, Illinois.
