Elizabeth Zastrow was born March 5, 1889 in Millerville Township, the daughter of Fredrick and Caroline Meissner. She was baptized and confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran Church at Millerville, Minnesota. She attended school and grew to womanhood in this community. On May 28, 1913 she was united in marriage to William Zastrow at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Mr. and Mrs. Zastrow lived in Leaf Valley Township, later in Ida Township. They retired in 1948 and moved to Osakis, Minnesota and in 1961 moved to Alexandria, Minnesota. Mr. Zastrow preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 1966.
Mrs. Zastrow passed away at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, May 23, 1974 at the age of 85 years. She is survived by one son, Aaron Zastrow of Bemidji, Minnesota; one daughter, Mavis (Mrs. David Smith) of St. Cloud, Minnesota; also surviving are twenty seven grandchildren and thirty seven great grandchildren; two sisters: Elfa Meissner and Amelia Meissner of Alexandria, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters: Josephine and Iverdeen, one son Edgar, four brothers and 3 grandchildren.
Funeral services were May 28, 1974 in Zion Lutheran Church, Alexandria, Minn., with Rev. K. K. Hill officiating. Interment was held at Kinkead Cemetery, Alexandria, Minn. Pallbearers were Roger Affeldt, Darold Zweig, Norman Zweig, Robert Krueger, Jr., Egner Zastrow and James Zastrow.
