Edgar Max Walter Zastrow was born in Leaf Valley Township, Douglas county, June 3, 1918, the son of Wm. and Elizabeth Zastrow. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith, attended school and grew to manhood in this community.
He was united in marriage to Agnes Schulke, July 30, 1941 at the Leaf Valley Church by Rev. H. L. Sprengeler. Edgar was employed by the Carlson Construction Co., and has made his home in Alexandria for the past twenty-four years.
He passed away at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, July 13, 1972 at the age of 54 years. He is survived by his wife, Agnes; and nine children: Jerry Zastrow of Alexandria; Sharyl (Mrs. Paul Mohawk) of New Brighton; Marjorie (Mrs. Gerald Karger) of Minneapolis; Judy (Mrs. Aldon Carlson) of Alexandria; Donna (Mrs. Larry Moen) of Alexandria; Richard, Randall, Russel and Jeffrey Zastrow at Alexandria. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren and one brother and one sister: Aaron of Bemidji and Mavis (Mrs. David Smith) of Alexandria. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Funeral services were held July 17, 1972 from Zion Lutheran Church, Alexandria, Minnesota, Rev. K. K. Hill officiating. Interment was at Kinkead Cemetery, Alexandria, Minnesota. Pallbearers were Clifford Peterson, Darold Zwieg, Leonard Floding, Wilford Miller, Jim Olson and Gerhard Klausman.
