He was born Nov. 18, 1918 in Dimock, SD to John and Zella (Swift) Endres. He was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in Mitchell, SD. He served in the Army in World War II. He was a member of the American Legion. He married Bertha Schnabel on Sept. 3, 1946 in Mitchell, SD. He was employed by the Bureau of Reclamation. He moved to Brainerd in 1966 where he owned and operated the Lakeview Trailer Park. He retired in 1978.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Diane Endres, Brainerd, and Joanne Fritz, Grand Forks, ND, a grandson and 2 brothers, Don Endres, Grand Forks, ND and Billy Endres, Schullsberg, WI.
2 sisters, Doris Loes, and Ilene "Jake" Meinen, and six brothers, Rodell, Delbert "Red", Kenny "Jim", John Jr., Vilas "Doc", and Melvin died earlier.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd with Father Bill Skarich officiating. Burial will be in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Camp Ripley honors provided by the American Legion Post No 255 Color Guard.
Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd and an hour before services at the church.
