Melvin Ellis Sherry, 76, of Porter died at 6:20 pm Thursday in Maple Avenue Hospital, DuBois.

A retired farmer he was born September 19, 1890 in Ringgold Township and lived most of his life in the Porter area. He was a son of Daniel and Mary (Martz) Sherry.

His wife, the former Edna Mae Snare, died October 8, 1961.

Mr Sherry was a member of St James Lutheran Church, Ringgold Township.

He is survived by nine children: five sons - Herbie and Merle of Driftwood, Boyd of Coolspring, Bernard of Wilmington, Deleware and Ellis of Mount Joy; and four daughters - Mrs Elder (Alice) Goss of Porter, Mrs Mary Stice of DuBois, Mrs June Deemer of Sinnamahoning and Mrs Joann Fletcher.

Also two sisters, Mrs Lizzie Mowrey of Brookville and Mrs Verda Barnett of Vandergrift; three brothers, Frank of Ford City RD 3, Alonzo of Kittanning and Erbie of Timblin; 26 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
