Mary Ellen Martz was born in Ringgold Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.

She was the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Martz and Catharine Shaffer.

She married Daniel Franklin Sherry on 16 Nov 1876 in Ringgold Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.

Mrs. Mary Ellen Sherry, 85, died Friday night, May 7, 1943, at her home, R 2 Mayport, Pa.

She is survived by the following children:
Mrs. Lizzie Maurey of North Freedom'
John Sherry of Eddyville
Mrs. Orga Davis of Knoxville
Mrs. Ida Crissman, Buena Park, Calif
Ellis Sherry, North Point
Franklin Sherry and
Herbie Sherry both of Cadogan
Erbie Sherry, Timblin
Alonzo Sherry, Cadogan and
Mrs. Verda Barnett of Vandergrift

She also leaves one brother, George Martz, of Ringgold; fifty grandchildren, seventy great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the St. James Lutheran church near Ringgold, with the church pastor, the Rev. Guy Wilson officiating.

Cause of Death: Hardening of the arteries (old age)

Mary Ellen was buried 10 May 1943 in the church cemetery.
