Alonza 'Doc' Elmer Sherry, 85, of 1171 Wilson Avenue, Kittanning, died Sunday, October 9, 1983 at 6:20 pm in Armstrong County Memorial Hospital.

He was born February 25, 1898 in Timblin, the son of Daniel and Mary (Martz) Sherry.

He was a retired coal miner, having been employed by Allegheny River Mining Company and a retired employee of the Arcade Department Store, Kittanning, He attended the Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his dear friend, Deretha Helen Cravener with whom he made his home; two sons, Edwin of Florida and William Lee of Wisconsin; one brother, Erbie of Timblin; one sister, Verda Barnett of Vandergrift; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maybelle (Gahagan) Sherry; one son, Don A Sherry; five brothers, Frank, Mel, Herbie, John and William; and five sisters, Orka, Elizabeth, Katherine, Ida and Annie.

SHERRY - Friends of Alonza 'Doc' Elmer Sherry, 85, of 1171 Wilson Avenue, Kittanning, who died Sunday, October 9, 1983, will be received from 7 to 9 pm Monday and from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm Tuesday at the JR Kennedy Funeral Home, Kittanning, where services will be held Wednesday at 11 am with the Rev. Robert Free, pastor of Christ Rupp Lutheran Church, officiating.

Burial will follow in Lawn Haven Memorial Park. Arrangements by Kennedy.
