RETIRED FARMER, DIES

James N. West, 82, retired farmer, died Monday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. B. Andrews, RFD 2, Duncombe. Mr. West was a long-time resident of Fort Dodge.
Funeral rites will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 at Bruces. The Rev. M. Milo Hall, pastor of Riverside Methodist church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Blanchard cemetery at Lehigh.
Mr. West, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. S. West, was born at RayVill, Mo, on Dec 13, 1870. He attended the schools of that community.
He was married at RayVill to Miss Laura Rhudy on July 18, 1891. The Wests moved to Lehigh shortly after their marriage and farmed in that vicinity for many years.
Twenty-nine years ago they retired from farming and moved into Fort Dodge, making their home at Twelfth avenue southwest.
Mrs. West died on June 7, 1951. Since his wife's death Mr. West had made his home at various times with his five children. He had been in failing health for some time.
Surviving him are four daughters, Mrs. Clifford White, Mrs. Glenn Pratt, and Mrs. Albert Ely, all of Fort Dodge; and Mrs. J. B. Andrews of RFD 2, Duncombe; and a son Averill West of Fort Dodge.
Forty-one grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and a brother, Ben West of Chariton also survive him.
His wife, three daughters, two sons, his parents, one brother, and two sisters preceded him in death.
