J. H. LUHN

Mr. J. H. Luhn, an old honored citizen of Austin County died at his home near Kenney on Saturday, March 25, 1911 age 69 years and 27 days.

The deceased was born in Holstein, Germany and came to Texas with his father and brothers in 1848, the family settling in Bellville making this town their home for years.

In 1866 Mr. Luhn was married to Miss Minna Amthor of Bellville, the couple living here for some 2 years and removed to Kenney about 40 years ago.

He is survived by his wife, six sons, two daughters; besides his four brothers, one sister and ten grandchildren.

He served throughout the War Between the States, enlisted on the side of the Confederacy.

By occupation he was a ginner and a farmer and has occupied a prominent position among the citizenship of the county.

The funeral took place on Monday morning last at 11:30 o'clock, with interment at Oak Knoll cemetery here, the remains being followed from his late home by a long procession of sorrowing friends which was augmented here by large numbers.

The last rites were conducted under the ritual of the Sons of Hermann, read by Mr. H. Miller, president of the local lodge of that order.

The Times joins with the citizenship in extending sympathy to the bereaved ones in their hour of sorrow and is sensible of a deep feeling of personal loss at the passing away of a lifelong friend.
