ROBERT J. LUHN

Robert J. Luhn, age 58 years, 8 months, 4 days, died at his home in Kenney Monday November 20th at 10:50 p.m. after several years of impaired health. Funeral services were held at the family home Wednesday, November 22, 2 p.m. after which the very lengthy funeral procession moved to Oak Knoll cemetery in Bellville where interment was made. Rev. C. F. Hasskarl of the Phillipsburg Lutheran Church and T. Moore of the Methodist church officiated at both services with appropriate hymns given by the choir of the Methodist church here. The attendance at the funeral was one of the largest ever seen in Kenney with many here from distant points, and the floral offerings were numerous and beautiful. Active pall bearers were J. D. Kamas, Walter Meinecke, Robert Stern, Aug. Blum, Chris Wiese, and Will Henske. Honary pallbearers were Ervin Luhn, Raymond Kaufhold, Robert Blum, Burgess Luhn, Norris Luhn and Guy McNutt.

Decedent was born at Kenney March 16, 1875, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Luhn. In the year 1898 he was married to Miss Caroline Klopsteck of Kenney, and to this union three children were born, of whom two died in infancy. The wife died in April, 1918 and in 1919 he was married to Miss Ellen Kaufhold of Bellville who survived him. Surviving, also, are one son, Raymond Luhn of Kenney and one grandchild; five brothers, Willie Luhn of Brenham, Hugo, Felix, Paul and Theo Luhn of Kenney; two sisters, Miss Fannie Luhn and Mrs. Jim McNutt of Kenney.

Mr. Luhn was a good business man, and took an active interest in public matters. He engaged in the ginning business all his life and was a member of the State Ginners Ass'n. He was a member of the Lutheran church of the W. O. W. and O. D. H. S. was precinct chairman of the Kenney voting precinct, and a director of the Kenney State Bank. The Kenney school was closed Wednesday afternoon in respect of his memory. He was generous and kind hearted, and had a large circle of friends who appreciated his many good qualities and honor his memory.
