Immigrated with family members at age 3; arrived in New York on 3 Jul 1849. Father of Jacob Schick, d. Montreal, Canada 1937, inventor of electric razor and founder of the of Schick Razor Company. Valentine enlisted and fought in the Civil War under the name Volney Bluejacket. He used the name Bluejacket, he said in his his Civil War Pension Application as he had been taken in and helped by a Shawnee family, named Bluejacket while in Missouri. He appears to have left home at around the age of ten. Married at least twice....Minnie Angel(1858-1874), Alice Long (1858-1892). Both wives born in Iowa. At his death he was survived by one son Jacob (1877-1937) and two daughters Blancha (1872-1950) and Ruth (1882-). Two sons apparently deceased V Fred (1872-1890) and William V (d. 1886 child).
