George Morgan Kimble was born at Millersburgh, Holmes Co., Ohio on 23 Apr 1847. In early childhood, my parents (David & Rachel {Thornburg} Kimble moved to Chatham, Licking Co., Ohio, where I grew to manhood. At age of 16 years and three months I entered the U.S. Service. I enlisted in Co. C, 129 Volunteer Infantry as a private on the 20th day of July 1863, and was musterd out with teh Company on 7 Mar 1864. I reenlisted as a private on the 6th day of August 1864 in Co. K, 66 Ohio Volunteer Infantry, ans was mustered out 3 Jun 1865 at Brandenburg, Maryland. I served under General Sherman and was with the Regiment on the famous March to the Sea.
On 24 Oct 1867, I was married to Amelia Carmichael. To this marriage seven children were born. Two of them died in early childhood. My wife died in February, 1882. On January 1, 1883 I was united in marriage to Hannah P. Garrigues of Carbondale, Kansas. To this union there were 11 children born, one having died at the age of about three years. Ten children still survive.
I have lived at Burwich, Illinois from 1871 to 1875. Moved back to our old home at or near Newark, Ohio in March, 1880; moved to Carbondale, Kansas, then in March 1893 moved to Downs, Osborne Co., Kansas. While living in Osborne County I had some political preferment, served two terms as township trustee, then two terms, four years, as Osborne County Treasurer. Moved to Mulvane, Kansas in Februrary 1906. Reared on a farm, I followed that business all my life until 1911, when I moved into town. Since 1912, I have been in the grocery business. In all these years of a farming and business career, God has been good to me. I always worked hard, but always had plenty to eat and wear, and I am truly thankful to God for his watchful care and tender merciwes toward me.

The Kimble children are: Sam {Hazel Hufbauer} children: Betty, Sam & John; Frank {Lucille Brown} - no children; Ed {Elma Flynn} - no children; Robert {Maude Goheen} Children: Duane, Marvin & Vernon; Carl (Leota Seekamp} - Children: Dick, Gayle & Bill; Bess {Ed Headley - not related to compiler, Children: Fran; Nell {Elbert Oliver} -children: twin daughters Elaine & Elizabeth, Elaine is deceased, Margaret, Keith; Florence {William Brinkerhoff}- Children: Bill; Ester {Dave Trufella}- children: Tom, Dona (Trufelli) Szezepenik; Elsie {Frances Taylor} - children: Jim, Frankie (Taylor) Faulk, Marjorie (Taylor) Marcus.
Mr. Kimble's 2nd wife died 28 Jan 1927. Since that time he made his home with his daughter Mrs Neil Oliver. In June, 1929, he retired from active business. George Morgan Kimble died March, 1931 at nearly 84 years of age.
