Carl Bernard Kimble was born 18 Jun 1898, in Downs, Osborne Co., Ks, the son of George M. & Hanna Pine (Garrigues) Kimble and departed this world the third day of May 1967, in Mulvane, Kansas. He was united in marriage to Leota Marie Seekamp on 13 May 1918, and to this union three sons were born: Dick, Gayle and Bill.

Carl obtained his education in the Mulvane Public Schools and graduated from Mulvane High School in 1917. He attended Fairmont College in Wichita and served in the U.S. Marine Corp during WW I. The early part of Carl's married life was spent in Salida, Colorado. In 1920 he returned to Kansas and farmed in the Mulvane community until 1937.
He purchased the Kimble Grocery from his brother Ed and operated that business until his retirement in 1962, this ending 50 years of continuous operation of the Kimble Grocery. During his lifetime Carl was a member of the Mulvane Methodist Church, an active member in the various civic organizations and a member of the American Legion Paul Stewart Irwin Post 136.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his half brothers Ralph, David, Dillon and Charles, half sisters Mettie and Mary, brothers Sam and Robert, and sister Gertrude and Bess.
Survivors include his wife, Leota; his sons, Dick and Gayle of Mulvane, and Bill of Augusta; grandsons, Jerry, serving in the Navy and stationed in Guam, Bruce, Dennis and Chris of Mulvane, Ted and Gene of Augusta; his brothers, Frank of Salida, Colorado and Ed of Mulvane; His sister Nell Oliver of Mulvane and Florence Brinkerhoff, Elsie Taylor and Ester Trufelli, all of Wichita, and a multitude of other relatives, friends and acquaintances.
