William Oliver Loy, 85, of 1102 Walnut St., Jerseyville, died at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at Jersey Community Hospital. He was born July 24, 1887, in Jersey County, and married Ethel Bridges. he was a retired farmer and veteran of World War I.

Surviving are his widow, Ehtel; three daughters, Mrs. Leancle (Hazel) Young of Kane, Mrs. R. C. (Flora) Wellhausen of Carrollton and Mrs. Joseph (Theo) Koehne of Rockbridge; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Ralph (Lula) Brooks of Jerseyville; a son, Oliver Loy, Jr. of Medora; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Frank of Jerseyville and Mrs. Rollie (Zola) Feldjes of Jerseyville and four brothers, Frank of Jerseyville, Louis of Plainview, Tony of Alton and George Loy of Medora.

Visitation begins after 4 p.m. Thursday at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Bethel Baptist Church by the Rev. Earl Clagg. Worthy post American Legion will conduct graveside services at Oak Grove Cemetery.
