James Loy, 77, of Elkhart, Ind., a former Rockbridge area resident, passed away at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at a veteran' hospital in Ft. Wayne where he had been a patent four months. Mr. Loy, a retired farmer, moved to Indiana four years ago.

He was born in Greene County May 15, 1889; son of William and Anna Portwood Loy. He leaves three daughters: Mrs. Edith Zimmerman of Des Plaines, Mrs. Mary Miller of Elkhart, Ind. and Mrs. Phyllis Bradfisch of East Alton and six grandchildren. Also surviving are five brothers: Louis Loy of Plainview, George and Tony, both of Medora, Frank and Oliver of Jerseyville, and two sisters: Mrs. Zada Feldjes of Medora and Mrs. Nellie Franks, Jerseyville. Mr. Loy, a veteran of World War one, was a member of the Jerseyville American Legion Post and the Moose Lodge.

Funeral services are scheduled at ? p.m. Friday at the ? Funeral Home, Dr. Frank ? officiating. Burial will be in Witt cemetery at Rockbridge where graveside rites will be conducted by memberos of the Jerseyville American Legion.
