Elizabeth Challacombe Dies In Peoria At 84

Mrs. Elizabeth Challacombe, 84, sister of Mrs. Ed Shane of Princeville, passed away at the Proctor Home in Peoria Sunday night following an illness of a few days duration.
Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the Bullock funeral home here, conducted by Rev. A. H. Nothdurft of the Methodist church. Interment was in the Princeville cemetery.
Pallbearers were Calvin Hauser, Raymond Kelstadt, L. A. Evans, Irvin Tucker, Wilbur Challacombe and Charlie Haller.
Elizabeth Ann Bale, was the daughter of William and Ann Bale, was born Feb. 26, 1859,in Jubilee township. She was married to George Frederick Challacombe March 10, 1886, and to this union were born two sons, William Arthur of Princeville and Leroy of Kickapoo.
Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents and four brothers, William, Robert, Richard and George Bale.
She leaves to mourn her passing two sons, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and the sister, Mrs. Ed Shane of Princeville.
Mrs. Challacombe was better known to her friends as "Aunt Lizzy." She spent her entire life in this community and for the past four years had resided at the Proctor Home. She will be greatly missed.
