Mrs. Reed was stricken with paralysis about two years ago and since that time has been unable to leave her home. Sunday, November 19 she took a change for the worse and on Thursday morning her illness developed into a state from which she could not rally.
The deceased, who had resided near Grange ever since her marriage to Thomas Reed in 1852, was highly esteemed by all who knew her. She had been a faithful and consistant member of the Evangelical Church ever since girlhood, and while attending to the duties of rearing a large family she was always ready to give her time and render needed assistance to her neighbors. She was the mother of 14 children, five of whom she provided for while her husband was absent during the two years he served in the Civil War as a private in the 82nd regiment. The respect in which she was held by her neighbors was made manifest in the funeral Sunday when the largest crowd ever assembled at the Ebenezer church gathered to pay their last tribute of respect to the deceased.
Mrs. Reed was the daughter of Jacob and Susan Mauk. She is survived by her husband and one sister, Mrs. Hiram Carrier, of Summerville. Of her children 12 survive her namely: Mrs. William Roush, of Sprankles Mills; Mrs. B. W. Grove, of Hamilton; Mrs. Rebecca Kinter, of Summerville; Elmer J. Reed, of Allegheny; Mrs. W. C. Milliron, of Sprankles Mills; Mrs. J. R. Lukehart, of Falls Creek; Mrs. Charles Stormer, of Worthville;
W. I., A. C., and L. H., of Desire ; S. C. Reed, of Sykesville; and P. J. Reed at home. John Reed , a grandson also made his home there. Of the 34 grandchildren nearly all attended the funeral Sunday. Unknown Newspaper obituary
