THOMAS REED, CIVIL WAR VETERAN DIES IN SYKESVILLE
Aged Grange Resident, One of County's Pioneers, Dies at son's Home.

Thomas Reed, a pioneer resident of the county, and a Veteran of the Civil War died at the home of his son, S. C. Reed, of Sykesville, last night at 7:30 0'clock, aged 84 years.

He was born June 21, 1833, and lived practically all his life near Grange this county.
During the Civil War he enlisted in the 82nd Pennsylvania Regiment and served for one year and 11 months. His wife, who was Miss Barbara Mauk, died 14 years ago.

Some time ago, a cow stepped on his foot. The injury became gangrenous and this caused his death. He was taken to the home of his son only a short time ago. He was a member of the Ebenezer Evangelical Church and was generally loved and respected.

The following sons and daughters survive him: Mrs. W. C. Groves, of Hamilton; E. J. Reed, of Cleveland; Mrs. Rebecca Kinter, Mrs. Reed Lukehart of Falls Creek; Mrs. W. C. Milliron of McKeesport; W. I. Reed, of Desire; A. C. Reed, of Desire; L. H. and S. C. of Sykesville; Mrs. Charles Stormer, of Worthville; P. L. Reed, of Grange.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 12:30 in the Ebenezer Church.
