Husband of Helen Louise Snyder; Son of William Johansson and Ethel Gertrude Hetrick.

William Adrian Johnson, son of William and Ethel (Hetrick) Johnson, was born March 16, 1919 at Sioux Falls, SD. He grew up helping on the family farm and with his father's plastering business. He attended Washington High School.
Bill was united in marriage with Helen Louise Snyder on June 17, 1939 at Canton, SD. The family moved to the Brandon, SD are in 1954. Bill was a charter member and instrumental in forming the Brandon Volunteer Fire Department. He also did most of the construction on the orginal building. He was active at the Brandon Golf Course where he provided golf lessons to children during the summer months. Bill was a member of Brandon Lutheran Church since 1954. Bill was very proud of the time he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a charter member of the Brandon Veterans of Foreign Wars, which he helped establish, purchase and build. He was a past Post and State Commander and served on the honor guard for many years.
Bill loved to spend time with this family. Bill and his wife, Helen, enjoyed dancing together for many years. His love of music and him spending countless hours playing the organ. He drove school bus for several years and was a member of the Moose Lodge.
He worked as a cement contractor for many years in the Sioux Falls and Brandon areas where he built several houses. He late worked for Dakota Havestore and was with Sioux Falls Structures as a quality control engineer when he retired. He enjoyed woodworking and building furniture.
Grateful for having shared his life are his two daughters, Terry Brandt and her husband, Roger, Sioux Falls, SD, Pat Alexander and her special friend, Eddie Cook, Tea, SD; a son, William W. "Bill" Johnson and his wife, Roxie, Sioux Falls, SD; 12 grandchildren, Gordy, Jr., Gregg, and Garry Brower, Kristi Norwick, Darren Brandt, Jodi Kasemodel, Robert and Nathanael Alexander, Sherry Tiggelaar, William Johnson, Cory and Tyler Demers; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Gerald Johnson, Sioux Falls, SD; a sister, Wanda Moore and her husband, Roy, Las Vegas, NV; a son-in-law, Gordon Brower Sr. and wife, Brenda, Mitchell, SD; and host of other relatives and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, on September 15, 1998; a daughter, Phyllis Brower; two brothers, Gabe and Ed Johnson; and a sister, Vida Moeller.
