-Gerald Johnson Sr. was born to parents, Ethel Gertrude (Hetrick) Johansson and William Johannson on March 26, 1930. Jerry was the youngest of six children. Jerry married Jennie Kramer on March, 26, 1946, in Luverne, MN. They lived with Jerry's parents until October when they moved to one of Charley Swanson's farms located in Granite, Iowa. Later they lived a short time with Henry Kramer before moving to Jerry's parents' farm in 1949, which was located near East Sioux. Besides farming Jerry learned his father's trade of plastering. He owned and operated Gerald Johnson Plastering from 1957-1992. Many building in Sioux Falls and the surrounding area were build through the effort and expertise of Johnson Plastering. The family lived in various locations in Sioux Falls before purchasing a farm in 1971 just inside Lincoln County. After retiring from the plastering company, he then devoted his time to his first love (farming.) Jerry dearly loved country and western music, old westerns, morning coffee with the boys, and all his girls (cows.) Grateful for having shared his life are his son, Gerald Jr (Sandra) of Garretson, SD; son-in-law, Lyle (Chris) of Spring Valley, MN; daughter, Carla (Doug) of Sioux Falls, SD; son, Mark (Deanna) of Sioux Falls, SD; and godson, Richard Herting. Jerry has seven grandchildren: Sam, Max, Sara, Brian, Cody, Jessy, and Landon. He also had nine great-grandchildren: Zoe, Finn, Annabelle, Hailey, Addison, Kylie, Zoey, Jace, and Adalyn. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jennie; his daughter, Diana; two sisters, Vida and Wanda; and three brothers, William, Edwin, and Gabe.
