ENGEBRETSON - Shirley Engebretson, 80, Durand, died 10 a.m. Thursday, March 2, 1967, in Rockford Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Born Jan. 1, 1887, in Durand Township, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hawkins Engebretson. Lived seven years in Durand, moving there from the Davis Junction area. Married to the former Henrietta Hanford in Rockford, March 16, 1910. He was a retired farmer. Member of First Methodist Church of Durand, and of Meridian Sun Lodge No. 505, AF & AM, Holcomb, Order of the Eastern Star No. 455, Holcomb; Freeport Consistory; and the Winnebago County Farm Bureau. Survivors include: his widow; four sons, Arnold, Glenallen, Alaska; Dean, Alpine, CA; Shirley Jr., Oceanside, CA; Lloyd, San Diego; three daughters, Mrs. Merton Baxter, Belleflower, CA; Mrs. Marvin Beard, Rockford; and Mrs. John Goad, Los Angeles; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a twin brother, Sherman, Bremerton, WA; and one sister, Mrs. Earl Strauss, Rockford. A son Sherman died previously.

Services at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 5 in First Methodist Church, Durand, with Rev. Darrell English, pastor, officiating. Burial in Durand Cemetery. Friends may call in Chapin-McCorkle Funeral Home, Durand from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Masonic rites will be conducted by the Holcomb lodge at 8 p.m. Saturday.
