SIKESTON- Monroe Blackwell, 82, died Aug. 11, 1996 at the Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Born April 12, 1914, at Hayden, Maries Co, MO, son of the late Harvey and Carrie Sneed Blackwell, he was a retired school teacher, member of the Sikeston Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite in St Louis and Miner Baptist Church. He was married lst to Leona Mildred Brinkley who passed away on Dec 10, 1971.

On Feb. 17, 1973, he married Lona Myers, who survives of the home. Other survivors include: one son, Donald Richard Blackwell of Union, one daughter, Janet Carol Sloan of Sikeston; three brothers, Melvin Blackwell of Villa Ridge, Ray Blackwell of Steelville and Bob Blackwell of Boyce, La; one sister, Rose Grannemann of New Haven; and nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was proceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Ponder Funeral Home where services are scheduled for a 10 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Ron Shrum, director of Missions, of Kennett. Burial will follow in the Pillman Cemetery in Jerome.
