Born January 11, 1862 at his parents farm near Seaforth, Tuckersmith Twp, East Huron County, Ontario, Canada.

His parents were James Blake Sr. originally immigrating from Armagh (pronounced Ah-ma), Ulster Province, Northern Ireland in 1829. His mother's family also immigrated from Armagh not until 1844. Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Shannon met and married James Sr. about 1851 in Ontario, Canada. He about age 25 and she was abt. age 22.

The James Blake family lived in Alton, Caledon Twp., Peel County until before Thomas George birth his father moved to the Tuckersmith Twp., in Huron County (also where the Shannon family lived. Thomas George Blake was their 5th child born on January 11, 1862 near Seaforth, Tuckersmith or McKillop Twp., East Huron County, Ontario Canada.

His mother died when he was just 6 years of age. She left behind a daughter Elizabeth Ann Blake born abt 1853-d:?; John Blake b: 1-22-1855 d: 12-24-1927; Martha Blake b: 1-5-1857-d: 4-6-1930; James Blake Jr b: 2-21-1859-5-4-1927; Thomas George (himself); Solomon Valentine Blake b: 2-14-1864-d: 2-26-1936 and Margaret Jane "Maggie" Blake b: 4-11-1866-d: 8-19-1967. After his mother was buried in Egmondville United Cemetery, Seaforth, E. Huron, Ontario. Widow Blake was left with his oldest daughter, Elizabeth Ann Blake, age 15. with the youngest of his seven children about 2 years of age. His father waited about 2 years before he again married.

Hannah Lee became the children's step-mother on May 10th, 1870. Soon after the marriage his father moved the family northwesterly to the Indian Peninsula of North Bruce County that jutted into Lake Huron's east coast. There in Albemarle Twp, North Bruce (the area of Wiarton/between Colpoy's Bay and Spry, the family settled down. Hannah's parents also lived in Albemarle Twp. Hannah bore his father 4 children. Between 1871 to 1879 Thomas gained 3 half sisters (Thomasena "Sena", Henrietta "Etta", & Mary Hannah "Hannah"). 24 hours after the birth of a half brother, Fredrick Lee "Fred" Blake, the only mother he remembered, died at age almost age 39. His mother had lived to the age of 39 and now at age 17 he was once again motherless.

Thomas George served England in the Canadian Military Service at Reil Rebellion in Canada. He also was a Canadian Northwest Mounted Police officer.

February 14, 1881 his father remarried a 3rd time to a twice widowed Martha Armstrong-McLaughlin-Lachay.

November 7, 1881 his 2nd step-mother Martha gave birth to his half-sister Lillis Blake. Martha had moved into the Blake home in Albemarle, bring her eight (8) children to live in the home. His older brother John married in December after Hannah Lee died. His older sister Elizabeth had a son but without a husband in August of 1870 (William John Blake).

In 1881 the Blake home was full with 2 adults and 17 children. His sister Elizabeth, brother John had moved out of the Blake home.

About 17 days after his the birth of his father's 12th child (Lillis) Thomas George married Barbara Krumholtz on Nov 24, 1881 in Wiarton, Albemarle Twp., North Bruce, Ontario Canada.

Sometime in 1882 his father was faced with the fact his 3rd marriage was not valid. His 3rd wife, Martha, was not a window. Her husband had been reported killed in action but instead returned while she was carrying his father's 2nd child. Martha Armstrong-McLaughlin moved to Mar with her 8 Laughlin children and Lillis Blake. Victor Colonel Blake, James Blake's Sr.'s 13th chid was born in Mar, Albermarle Twp., North Bruce, Ontario on May 1st 1883.

Thomas' father, decided to move his family to the United States. By June, 1883 James Blake Sr. was in Washington territory of Lopez Island, San Juan County, Wash., USA with his brother George as a companion. He had followed his father-in-law James Lee (Hannah Lee's father) to San Juan County as Mr. J. Lee had moved in January of that year to live with his son's family.

James Sr. left his children in Ontario; the older ones watching out for his younger children by Hannah Lee, His daughter Martha Blake was a big help to the family.

Thomas George and Barbara's 2nd child was born. Elizabeth Maud "Lillie' Blake who was born Nov 24, 1884 in Albemarle Twp, N. Bruce, Ontario. Lillie would become Mrs. Joseph Samuel Biggs Sr. by marrying the widow Biggs after her cousin Carrie May Blake passed away. Lillie would care for her Carrie's children from 1913 to 1923 when she would pass away at age 38 (d: Mar 7, 1923 on Lopez Island, San Juan, Washington USA.)

1891 Thomas George Blake immigrated to the USA, following his father James Blake Sr.to the San Juan Islands. His father gave him land near his homestead on Fisherman's Bay Road (the north end of Lopez Island). In 1892 he returned to Canada for his wife and daughter but Barbara had cancer and died on Oct 28, 1892. Thomas returned to Lopez Island, bringing his daughter Lillie with him.

About 10 years would pass before Thomas George married for a 2nd time to Olive Theresa Murphy from Toronto, Ontario on Feb 21, 1903. Tereas Murphy was the daughter of John Murphy and Annie Ryan. Thomas was about 16 years her senion when Tereas married at age 23 years.

Teresa immigrated to Lopez Island, Washington, USA and Tom had 6 children: Olive F. "Ollie" Blake, b: Jan 7, 1904/ became Mrs. Don T. Homan and died June 9, 1991; Annie Regina "Queenie" Blake b: Aug 14, 1905 on Lopez Is/ she became a missionary never to marry d: Nov 9, 1990; T A (Teresa) Blake b: Jul 1906 / infant death Nov 9, 1907; Verna M. Blake b: Jan 16, 1909 / became Mrs. Walter H. Buffum d: Jul 9, 1990; Nora Blake b: May 22, 1910 / became Mrs. Otis M. Ayers d: Jun 22, 2000; and son, T J Blake b: May 24, 1915 / married Yvonna Flatter in 1934. d: Apr 11, 1998. All were born on Lopez Island.

Tom lived 51 years on Lopez Island. As his father and some of his brothers, he served his district. He was County Commissioner for several terms and took a keen interest in public affairs in his home community. He was a member of the San Juan Masion's Lodge and Mount Dallas Lodge, I.O.O.F. of Friday Harbor.

Thomas George Blake died of a heart attack. He left behind his 2nd wife and four daughters: Mrs. Don Homes, Mrs Walter Buffin, Miss Nora Blake a nurse in Los Angeles, Miss Queenie Blake a traveling missionary and one son T. J. Blake of Lopez Island plus 4 grandchildren. He died on Monday and was buried on Thursday. Services were held at 1:45pm at the Lopez Center Church. He lived to be 80 years, 3 months and 2 days in age.
