Age 37. No marker found.Jessie was survived by five daughters Viola; Marcella; Shirley; Phyllis and Anna Lee. She is buried next to her brothers Lynn and Andrew my grandfather. All are in unmarked graves.
Her parents Francis and Lola Belle Bruce Brown, are buried out of town in Mt. Gilead cemetery along with Jessie's sister Dollie and grandparents Andrew and Susan Margaret Wallace Brown.
Jessie had an unfortunate life, she was married four times and had five daughters that she was not able to take care of properly. Two of her girls she placed in the Sailor and Soldiers orphanage in Illinois and there they stayed until they became of age.
In 1936 she married Raymond Snyder and in Aug 22, 1937 she gave birth to Anna Lee Snyder. On the night of Halloween 1937 she and Raymond and another man were out drinking and came home drunk. An argument broke out with Jessie and Ray and in a drunken rage he stabbed Jessie seventeen times with a butcher knife. She died a few days later in Alton Hospital.
Raymond went to prison. An article I found said Anna Lee was with his family.

I'm thinking the boys Eugene and William were her step children. Wilma is Phyllis.
