Felice "Philise" Steen was the 9th child of Hilaire Elias Steen (c1780-1859) and Catherine STELLY (1793-1856). She was born on 8 August 1830 in Saint Landry Parish, Louisiana, was baptized on 29 August 1830 in the St. Charles Borromeo Church in Grand Coteau, and died sometime before October 1856 [probably in Saint Martin Parish where her parents were living].
Felice's birth and baptism information was found in the Southwest Louisiana Records as:
"STEEN, Philise (Elias & Catherine STELLY) b. 8 Aug. 1830, bt. 29 Aug. 1830 Spons: John WESTEN & Lucie STEEN. Fr. Jean ROSTI (GC Ch.: v.1, p.86)."
Felice had to have died before October 1856 as she was not listed as one of the children of Elias Steen & Catherine Stelly on Catherine's succession paperwork dated 20 October 1856 following Catherine's death nor was she listed in Elias' succession in 1859. Had Felice still been alive, she would have been listed in one or both of those records. Chances are that she died as an infant or a young child. No further information is known about Felice.
