Florence grew up on a farm in Downey, Idaho at the beginning of the 1900's. She was the daughter of an Irish immigrant, George Chadwick Pratt who'd spent some time in Ireland traing for the priesthood. That didn't work out for him, as he married twice and had 18 children after esacping that fate to live in the U.S. Her mother, Olive, had 15 of those children, having come from a family of 22 , herself. Florence was amongst the oldest. She worked hard, as her 7 sisters and 2 brothers did, on the ranch doing chores. Nevertheless, the girls of her family were also well educated and many of them attended the Albion State Normal School. "normal" ='s Teacher's College. She was on the basketball team there. Under her photo in a 1904 yearbook it says, "She's pretty to walk with, And Witty to talk with And pleasant, too, to think on."
She married Frank Laurenson in 1913 in Utah. In 1914 they had a son Robert Frank. Then in 1917 had a daughter, Hazel. 9 Days later she died from sepsis as a complication after that birth. Her husband, agreived , joined the military , placing the children in the care of her large family on "Zenda Ranch"back in Downey for a time where her mother, Olive and brother John Pratt helped care for them.
She is buried in Utah, a state her grandfather Captain Jefferson Hunt lived in for a time, as he served in many Mormon settlements. Her brother John's daughter "Lilli Flo" was given her middle name in remembrance of Florence. She was only 28 years old.
