Olive Isabelle was born 12 Mar. 1854 in San Bernardino, California. Her earliest memory was on the move the family made to Utah and her life as a little girl in Huntsville. She was eleven when her mother (Matilda Nease) died. Her father (Charles Jefferson Hunt) took the family to live in upper Cache Valley in Idaho. She was left as the housekeeper at the age of fourteen and once prepared a meal for her family's guest, Pres. Brigham Young. She married at seventeen years. Her husband (George Pratt) was her senior by fifteen years, had to motherless children which Olive reared besides her own fifteen children. Being the wife of a freighter (A pioneer who hauled supplies and goods to different outposts etc.)she was left much of the time to protect the family against the troublesome Indians. She became an expert at pacifying the fears of those about her. She was noted as a housekeeper and cook. A school was held in her home. Her chilren went on to a higher education. They built a brick home in later years at Zenda, Idaho.
Olive lived a widow for thirty years. She was a friend to all, a gifted conversationalist, witty with many anecdotes and experiences. Her mind was clear and she was active to the end of her eighty-eight years. She had brown hair adn lively blue eyes. Her father (Charles Jefferson Hunt) said she was very like her mother (Matilda Nease)in looks.
