MRS. GEORGIA STILL SUCCUMBS MONDAY
About 300 Persons Attend Services Wednesday At McLaughlin Chapel
Mrs. Georgia Still, long-time Marceline resident died Monday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Baer, at Brookfield. About 300 persons attended funeral services Wednesday afternoon at the McLaughlin Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Ray Barnes.
Mrs. Delmar Foley, Billy Mac Henry and James Farris sang "Whispering Hope," "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Rock of Ages." The flower bearers were Mrs. Martha Skinner, Mrs. Darlene Olinger, Mrs. Shirley Hornsby, Mrs. Elizabeth Newman, Miss Wilma Blew and Miss Roberta Still, all granddaughters of Mrs. Still.
The pallbearers were Joe Still, Russell Still, Roy Still, Ray Still, Jesse Olinger and Virgil Newman. Burial was in the Stein cemetery near the grave of her husband, who died August 28, 1933.
Mrs. Still, whose maiden name was Georgia Ann Slaughter, eldest daughter of S.P. and Rebecca Slaughter, was born February 12, 1872 near Marceline. She and Jesse Still were married September 17, 1891 and eight children were born to this union. Two sons, William F. and Larkin T. preceded her in death.
Besides the daughter, Mrs. Baer, at Brookfield, Mrs. Still leaves two daughters, Mrs. Beulah Chrisman of this city and Mrs. Eulah Blew of Chillicothe, Ill.; three sons, Freddie Still of Keytesville, Charles Still of Des Moines, Iowa and Alvah Still of this city; thirty-three grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Mary Wiseman, Mrs. Ella Chrisman and Mrs. Earl Pitts, all of this city, Mrs. Emma Sights and Mrs. Bert Gilbert of Glendale, Calif.; other relatives and many friends.
Among the out-of-town persons attending the services were; Mr. and Mrs. Ira Hornsby of Liberty; Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Stanfield and Mr. and Mrs. Leighton Stanfield, all of Keytesville; Robert Still of Hamden.
Mr. and Mrs. E.L. Franklin of Kidder; Mr. and Mrs. O.D. Wright of New Cambria; Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Slaughter of Meadville; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Wiseman and daughters of Chillicothe; Mrs. Leroy Blew of Carrollton and Homer Blew of Chillicothe, Ill.
