Born in Princeville Twp, died in Jubilee Twp. Daughter of Robert and Eleanor (Lawrence) Harrison, wife of George Smith, m. Dec. 12, 1888.

************************************

Emma J. Smith, the daughter of Robert W. and Eleanor Laurence Harrison, was born in Princeville township March 21, 1868 and passed away in home at Jubilee November 20, 1952 at the age of 85 years, seven months and 29 days.

She married George E. Smith of Jubilee December 12, 1888, who preceded her in death many years ago.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith had a family of six children, all of whom survive; Frank, Robert and Orville of Princeville, Merle of Dunlap, Blanche Symonds of Camp Grove and Jessie Yess of Princeville. She leaves to mourn their loss, 19 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a brother, Hanford Harrison of Princeville; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Kneer of Williamsfield and Mrs. Ada Kneer of Laura; besides other relatives and friends.

Two sisters, Agatha Pierce of Alta and Mrs. Minnie LaMay of California; and one brother, Frank Harrison, preceded her in death.

Aunt Em, as she was by all her relatives, held a welcome house to all. She was a very tiny thing but very industrious, believing nothing should be wasted. She was independent and refused to be a burden to anyone. She was active and contended in her farm home as long as her health permitted. Her last weeks were spent in her own home where she could be happy.

She was the one who organized the Jubilee Sewing Circle many years ago and this proved a great help in times of need and was a church in truest sense.

She was a wonderful mother and her passing will leave a vacancy that cannot be filled.

"Mother dear, your work is ended. May you find peace, forever more. No words can tell how much we will miss you.
Ere we reach that other shore."

Services were held Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the Bouton Memorial home wit Rev. Frenandes in charge of the service. Mrs. Hayden Cooper sang two of her favorite hymns. She was laid to rest by the side of her husband in the Princeville cemetery. Casket bearers were Floyd Searle, Ben Johnson, Thomas Beall, Ralph Beall, Lloyd Miller and Luther Laurence.
