Frank Harrison Fatally Injured in Wreck Sat.

An open verdict was returned by a coroner's jury Monday afternoon at the inquest into the death of Frank Harrison, prominent retired farmer of Princeville, who was fatally injured last Saturday afternoon in an automobile accident.
Mr. Harrison was fatally injured when the car he was driving and a car driven by Mrs. Emery Tuttle collided south of Princeville on the Jubilee road about 80 rods north of the James Delbridge farm. Mr. Harrison was taken to Methodist hospital in Peoria where he died that evening.
Mr. Harrison who for the past sis years had reside with his brother Hanford Harrison of Princeville, had left his home earlier in the afternoon to visit his farm three and a half south of Princeville and was returning to town when the accident occurred.
In a statement obtained in the hospital by Coroner C. E. Wood. Mrs. Tuttle said she was driving south about 50 miles an hour. She said she tried to stop her car in an effort to avoid the collision.
Following the impact the Tuttle car caught fire and Akron-Princeville fire department was summoned to extinguish the blaze.
Mr. Harrison received a skull fracture, crushing injuries to his right chest, fractured pelvis, fractured right hip and multiple lacerations to the face. Mrs. Tuttle received sever bruises and several broken ribs.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Bouton Memorial home in Princeville with Rev J. A. Gordon of St. Mary of the Woods church officiating. He was laid to rest in St. Mary's cemetery. Bearers were all nephews, Francis Kneer, Fred Pierce, Frank Smith, Raymond Kneer, Peter Kelly and Francis Fairfield.
Frank Howard, son of Robert and Eleanor Lawrence Harrison was born January 23, 1872 on a farm three miles southwest of Princeville and passed away December 8, 1951 at the age of 79 years, ten months and 16 days. He was the seventh of a family of nine children.
He received his early education in the Good Hope district school and latter attended business college in Bushnell. A lifetime resident of the Princeville community, he continuously followed the occupation of farming, with the exception of about five years, during which time he was engaged in the hardware business with his brother Hanford in Princeville.

February 18, 1903, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Kelly, who preceded him in death February 20, 1945. To this union two daughters were born, Theolinda E., wife of Floyd J. Hill of Phoenix, Ariz., and Dorothy F., wife of Edward Westefer of Wyoming.
During his long and useful life Mr. Harrison took an intense interest in all public affairs of his community and served. In numerous offices of public trust, including those of school trustees, commissioner of highways and assessor.
He was a man of sterling character and sound judgment, highly respected by all who knew him and his advice and counsel were often sought by friends and relatives.
While active in the affairs of his community, the welfare of his family and relatives was at all times uppermost in his thoughts and he was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand in a time of need. His sudden passing comes as a distinct shock to all and he will be greatly missed in the family circle and community.
Besides his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by a brother James, who died in fancy and three sister, Carrie, who died in infancy, Mrs. Agatha Pierce and Mrs. Minnie La May.
In addition to the two daughters he is survived by three grandchildren, Mrs. Colleen C. Hughes of San Francisco Calif., Frank J. Hill of Milwaukee Wisc., and Nancy Westerfer of Wyoming; two great grandchildren Cindy Jo Hill and Gary J. Hughes; one brother, Hanford Harrison of Princeville; three sisters; Mrs. Emma Smith of Princeville, Mrs. Ada Kneer of Laura and Mrs. Bertha Kneer of Laura; together with numerous other relatives and a host of sincere friends.
