Funeral Services were held Tuesday, June 15, 1976 at 4:00p.m. for Lillie Pearl Barnes, who died Sunday, June 13 at the Comyn Baptist Church, while attending the Comyn Homecoming. Bro. Payne Haddex officiated the service, assisted by Bro. Lewis Stuckey and Bro. Ron King. Music was provided by George Caraway. Burial was in the Comyn Cemetery under the direction of Harrell Funeral Home.
Born January 18, 1888 in Mississippi to Benjamin Franklin Hazzard and Clementine (Smith) Hazzard, she married Jessie Lewis Barnes in 1905. [Sixteen] children were born to this union. Her husband and [five] children preceded her in death. Mrs. Barnes had lived in Comyn for 75 years and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Elois[e] Hudson of Comyn, Mrs. Crystal Kestler of New Boston, Mrs. Ada Bonner of Sulpher Springs, and Mrs. Beatrice Campbell of Big Spring; seven sons, Homer Barnes of Comyn, B.F. Barnes, Hershell L. Barnes, both of Dublin. Jessie K. Barnes of Hope, Ark., B.L. Barnes of DeLeon, Tommie D. Barnes of Ranger and Jack Barnes of Comyn; three sisters, Mrs. Lula Blanton of Dublin, Mrs. Effie Spruill, and Mrs. Virgie Rucker, both of DeLeon; twenty-nine grandchildren and fifty-nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were the grandsons.
