BEARD, Colonel Poy, Sr. of Rockdale. Age 89. Died 6/21/1977 in Richards Memorial Hospital after being in failing health for several months. Services held (Thursday) in the Phillips & Luckey Chapel. Burial in the IOOF Cemetery. Rev. D.D. Simpson officiated.

He was BORN 6/7/1888 in Williamson Co. to M/M. James Beard. He was a Rockdale resident for 40 yrs. and a farmer/rancher. Preceded in death by 2 sons, Cecil & Walter Beard; brother, Robert Beard; sister, Bessie Modesette.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Mrs. Louise Anna Beard of Rockdale; 4 sons, Forrest Beard of San Antonio, Truitt Beard of Granger, C.P. Beard, Jr. of Rockdale and Gordon Beard of Rockdale; 5 daughters, Ruth Nunnery of Granger, Ivy Jewel Tittle of Granger, Bessie Pittman of Luling, Helen Franz of Houston and Geneva Young of San Antonio; brother, Earl Beard of Cleburne; 2 sisters, Mrs. H.B. Durant of Cleburne and Mrs. John Spears of Granger; 15 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.
